Modernism Museum Mount Dora
Modernism Museum Mount Dora has an unprecedented collection of fine art and design. They will be hosting several exhibitions in which you will see how the DNA of Wharton Esherick, “Dean of American Craftsmen”, intertwines through the various works of generations of artists who followed him. Wharton Esherick is credited as being one of the most influential artists of Modernism & the American Studio Arts Movement. As of May 3rd 2015, the museum is temporarily closed to change the exhibit. Private tours may still available by appointment, until construction ensues for the changes. Moving forward, one exhibit at a time, a series of truly unique objects by such esteemed artists as Wendell Castle, George Nakashima, Sam Maloof, Arthur Espenet Carpenter and Albert Paley will demonstrate their influences, similarities and differences, all while giving credence to their individual styles. They have a tremendous educational video and a gallery full of rare pieces from private collections, some of these pieces have never been seen before.
